Library Board of Directors Meeting Minutes
February 8, 2011
Present: Nancy Bailey, Suzanne Chapman, Roby Passardi, Katherine Kalagher-Ryan, & Dorothy Drobney
Absent: Paula Enderle & Shirley Ernst
Meeting called to order at 6:15 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
January minutes reviewed.
Suzanne Chapman made a motion to approve the January 11th meeting minutes
Dorothy Drobney Seconded.
All in favor.
Motion passes.
PRESENT TO SPEAK
None.
COMMUNICATIONS
Reviewed and discussed letter from Alicia Dobbyn concerning a humanitarian mission she is organizing. She has asked the library if she can hold bake sale fundraiser at the library.
TREASURER’S REPORT
Reviewed and discussed.
DIRECTOR’S REPORT
Roby Passardi presented the Director’s Report—Reviewed and discussed.
OLD BUSINESS
- Budget Workshop: Reviewed and discussed potential budget for 2011-2012 Fiscal year. Board made significant effort to reduce budget anywhere possible to prepare for Board of Finance meeting on February 17, 2011.
- Quickbooks Payroll—reviewed and discussed the cost of purchasing Quickbooks Payroll for the Library. Board was concerned with the annual cost of this program and decided to investigate alternative payroll programs/options. To be discussed again at March regular meeting.
- Town Meeting—WPL presentation to the town is completed and will be saved until the postponed date.
- Staff Evaluations—Roby has had the staff of the library complete their evaluations. She has to prepare her own evaluation and which will be reviewed at March regular meeting.
- 2011 Monthly Meeting Schedule—reviewed the updated 2011 Board Monthly Meeting Schedule.
Suzanne Chapman moved to accept the 2011 meeting schedule.
Dorothy Drobney seconded.
All in favor.
Motion passes.
- 501(c)3—discussed the Willington Public Library’s 501(c)3 application which was completed and submitted to the IRS by Nitsa Benson.
Katherine Kalagher-Ryan moved to purchase a gift certificate to a local restaurant as a thank you for Nitsa.
Suzanne Chapman seconded.
All in favor.
Motion passes.
NEW BUSINESS
No new business.
BOARD CONCERNS
The board extends its sympathies to Lynn Nichols, whose father passed away recently.
Next Regular Meeting – March 8, 2011 @ 7:00 p.m.
Katherine Kalagher-Ryan made a motion to adjourn at 7:20pm.
Dorothy Drobney seconded.
